Today we heard back from the Library of Congress about that letter we sent last week on behalf of Col. Morris Davis, former chief prosecutor for the Guant谩namo military commissions, who was terminated from his job at the Congressional Research Service (CRS) because of opinion pieces he wrote about the commissions system that ran in the and the on November 11, 2009.

In our letter, we argue that CRS violated Col. Davis's First Amendment rights by firing him for speaking as a private citizen on matter that have nothing to do with his job. Indeed Col. Davis's first-hand knowledge of the commissions is vital to the heart of the national discourse about Guant谩namo and its detainees.

We're now planning to file a lawsuit on Col. Davi's behalf. Stay tuned!
